# Add a Payment Method to your WhatsApp Business Manager

**Why this matters**

Starting October 1, 2026, Meta requires every business to have a payment method on file in WhatsApp Business Manager. From that date, all messages, including service messages, are billed by Meta. Without a valid payment method, your WhatsApp channel will stop working, and so will the WhatsApp features you use in Zipchat. Full details on the new pricing are available on Meta's [WhatsApp Business Platform pricing page](https://developers.facebook.com/documentation/business-messaging/whatsapp/pricing).

**What you need**

* Admin access to your Meta Business Suite
* A Visa or Mastercard debit or credit card

**Steps**

1. Go to [Meta Business Suite](https://business.facebook.com/) and log in.
2. In the left-hand menu, scroll down and click **All Tools**.
3. Scroll to **Billing and Payments** and select **Payment Methods**.
4. If you manage more than one account, select the correct **WhatsApp Business account**.
5. Click the button to **add a payment method** and choose your currency.
6. Enter your card details and save.
7. If not automatically set, click on the 3-dots menu on the card and click on **Set as default**.
8. Go back to **Zipchat** → **Chat settings** → **WhatsApp** card → **Add payment method** -> **I added a payment method**.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.zipchat.ai/channels/whatsapp/add-a-payment-method-to-your-whatsapp-business-manager.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
